Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said that Bangladesh Chhatra League’s central rally would be held on December 6, instead of December 8, to ensure smooth holding of Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s December 10 rally.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said this while addressing the tri-annual conference of his party which was being held in Pirojpur on Sunday. He joined the event virtually from his residence.
He said that the decision was taken as per the party chief and prime minister, Sheikh Hasina’s, directive.
‘The government will not obstruct BNP’s December 10 rally but if they try to play with fire and sticks, they will be given a befitting reply,’ he said.
The AL leader said a Canada court declared BNP a militant organisation. ‘They carry out arson attacks in the name of movements.’
‘It is not so easy to make a man leader who fled the country signing a bond on condition of not doing politics,’ said Quader.
Regarding BNP’s demand of the caretaker government, the AL general secretary asked BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul to say the name of the country where there is a caretaker government.
‘It was your leader who said that no one is neutral except insane and children.’
He said the caretaker government is now banned by the court and has gone obsolete.
He said all claims about human sea went silent after BNP’s Cumilla rally and they would see the same in the capital.
