Power supply is likely to be restored in all areas of Dhaka city by 8:00pm while in Chattogram by 9:00pm on Tuesday, said ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

The state minister informed this in a post from his verified Facebook page on Tuesday.

‘Power supply restoration is a long and complex process,’ said Palak.

Power grid engineers and technicians are working, he added, urging all to keep patience instead of spreading rumors.

However, state minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid said that power supply is expected to be fully restored by 7:00pm on Tuesday.

‘Power supply has already been restored in some parts of the capital including Bangabhaban and Ganabhaban at 5:00pm,’ he said.

‘We’ve already restored electricity supply to Bangabgaban and Ganabhabon and some parts in Mirpur and other areas,’ he said.

National power transmission grid failed at 2:05 pm – causing blackout across Bangladesh, except some parts of the north.

According to officials at Bangladesh Power Development Board and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh, the transmission line tripped somewhere in the eastern part of the country, especially districts on the east of Jamuna river.

Following the grid failure, all power plants tripped one after another and electricity supply went off in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Barishal and Mymensingh divisions.
