Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to attend United Kingdom’s (UK) late Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
She is scheduled to fly to London on Thursday, one of the personal aides of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told Dhaka Tribune
The funeral will be held on September 19, according to Reuters.
Queen Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, and the nation’s figurehead for seven decades, died at her home in Scotland aged 96 on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh is observing a three-day state mourning in honour of the late queen from Friday to Sunday.
Awami League President and Premier Sheikh Hasina also said she will attend the United Nations General Assembly in a party meeting at Ganabhaban on Saturday night
The prime minister is also set to hold a press conference on Monday about her recent India visit.
Demonstrating the importance attached to relations between close neighbours, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s India visit saw a good number of decisions jointly agreed upon by the two countries.
Dhaka and Delhi signed seven Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) demonstrating cooperation in a number of areas including water sharing of the Kushiyara River on September 6.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home after wrapping up her four-day official visit on Thursday.
