The Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association on Monday reduced the price of packaged soya bean oil by Tk 14 a litter to Tk 178 a litre with effect from Tuesday.
The BVORVMA in a letter to the commerce ministry senior secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh said that they, considering the interest of consumers, had decided to reduce the price of soya bean oil by Tk 14 a litre.
The refiners came up with the decision following a meeting with the prime minister’s private industry and investment adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman on Monday.
According to the decision, the BVORVMA also decreased the price of a five-litre container of soya bean oil to Tk 880 from Tk 945.
Refiners also announced to lower the price of unpackaged soya bean oil to Tk 158 a litre from existing Tk 175 a litre.
Earlier, the commerce ministry and edible oil refiners on September 22 reduced the prices of palm oil to Tk 133 a litre from Tk 145 a litre as the prices of the item decreased on the international market.
