The Online Editors Alliance, a platform for the heads of online and digital divisions of the country’s leading online news media, newspapers and television outlets in Bangladesh, was officially launched on Thursday (December 12).
Hasan Sharif, Online Editor of Daily Naya Diganta, was elected as President, while Mizanur Rahman Sohel, Head of Online at Daily Bhorer Kagoj, was appointed as General Secretary. The alliance also formed a 13-member executive committee for a one-year term.
The announcement was made during a meeting attended by representatives from 35 prominent media organizations. It marks a significant step towards enhancing coordination, experience sharing, and skill development in digital journalism.
Lutfor Rahman Himel of Banglanews24.com and KM Zeaul Haque of Jagonews24.com were named Vice Presidents. M A H M Kabir Ahmad of RTV Digital and Kamrul Islam Rubel of DBC Television were appointed Joint Secretaries.
Other officials include Palash Mahmud of Daily Kalbela as Organizing Secretary, Sharafat Hussain of Daily Ittefaq as Assistant Organizing Secretary, Moin Bakul of Amader Shomoy as Finance Secretary, and Masud Bin Abdur Razzak of Deepto TV as Office Secretary.
Members of the executive committee are Anisur Rahman Bulbul of Kaler Kantho, Azad Baig of The Daily Star, and Mansura Chamily of Barta24.com.
In addition to the executive committee, heads of several other leading media outlets have been given general membership.

The alliance aims to create a unified platform for online journalism professionals, enhance collaboration and set new benchmarks for digital journalism in the country. Organisers say the alliance has been launched to foster collaboration among digital media leaders and progress objective journalism in the country.
