The interim government has ousted Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem as National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman.
He was replaced by Md Abdur Rahman Khan, secretary Financial Institutions Division, said a circular of the Ministry of Public Administration issued on Wednesday.
The ministry in the circular said the government has cancelled Muneem’s contractual appointment removing him from duty.
Earlier, the businessmen, during a view-exchange meeting on 13 August, demanded immediate removal of Rahmatul Muneem and threatened to lay siege to the NBR Chairman’s office by today.
The businessmen voiced the demand alleging that NBR officials have subjected them to various forms of harassment over the past 15 years.
