The interim government has scrapped the contractual appointment of 10 out of 19 secretaries, and sent home affairs secretary Jahangir Alam into forced retirement, according to a Wednesday notification ordered by the president.
Jahangir Alam served as the Election Commission secretary during the 7 January rigged general elections.
The concerned secretaries served as: National Board of Revenue chairman, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority executive chairman, National Parliament senior secretary, Planning Division secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism senior secretary, Road Transport and Highways Division secretary, Ministry of Agriculture secretary, and Ministry of Science and Technology secretary.
The contractual appointment of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority executive member Khairul Alam has also been cancelled.
