Bangladesh Women’s Football team beat India Women’s Football team by three goals to nil in their last Group-A match of the SAFF Women’s Championship at Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal on Tuesday.
Bangladesh had a comfortable 2-0 lead in the first half.
Unbeaten Bangladesh emerged the Group-A champions bagging maximum nine points from three matches, while India, the runners-up of the Group-A earned six points from thee matches. Both teams reached the semi-finals of the SAFF Women’s Championship.
Bangladesh will take on Bhutan in the first semi-final at the same venue on September 16, while India will face Nepal in the second semi-final on the same day at the same venue.
The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the final at the same venue on September 16.
This was for the first time Bangladesh Women’s Football team achieved a victory against India Women’s Football team.
Earlier, Bangladesh Women’s Football team conceded a 6-0 goals defeat to India Women’s Football team in their first match of SAFF Women’s Championship in Cox’s Bazar in 2010.
Sirat Jahan of Bangladesh put her team ahead by a placing shot using a short pass of her teammate Krishna Rani in the 12th minute of the match.
Krishna Rani made it 2-0 capitalizing a pass of her teammate Sirat Jahan.
After the interval, Sirat Jahan sealed the fate of the match (3-0) utilizing a pass of the Captain of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Sabina Khatun in the 53rd minute.
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh blanked Maldives by three goals to nil in their first Group-A match at the same venue on September 7.
Bangladesh thrashed Pakistan by six goals to nil in their second Group-A match at the same venue on September 10.
