Bangladesh government on Thursday gave promotions to three additional secretaries to the rank of secretary while a secretary was promoted to a senior secretary.

Local government secretary Mohammed Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury has been promoted to senior secretary and the Dhaka South City Corporation chief executive officer (additional secretary) Farid Ahmed has been made the primary and mass education secretary, Rajdhani Unnayan Katripakkha chairman (additional secretary) Md Anisur Rahman Mian got promoted as secretary in the RAJUK and additional secretary Md Zahangir Alam, who was attached to the public security division, has been made secretary to the Election Commission Secretariat.

The public administration ministry issued two gazette notifications to the effect on the day.

In a separate notification, senior secretary to the primary and mass education ministry Md Aminul Islam Khan has been sent to the public security division as a senior secretary.

The Election Commission Secretariat secretary Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker has been transferred to the industries ministry as secretary, replacing Zakia Sultana, who has been transferred to the information and broadcasting ministry as secretary, according to another order.

On October 16, the government sent information and broadcasting secretary Md Mokbul Hossain on early retirement, citing the public interest as the reason for sending him on retirement before completion of his normal service tenure.

Mokbul, an administration cadre officer belonging to the 10th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service, was appointed as the information secretary in May 2021.
