Liton Das smashed a blistering fifty to hand India a potential blow however his fellow team-mates failed to capitalise it as Bangladesh suffered a 5-run defeat (D/L Method) in a rain hit Super 12 match of the ICC T20 World Cup in Brisbane on Wednesday.

Liton who secured a 21-ball 50 finished with 60 off 27 hitting seven fours and three maximums, his maiden fifty in the T20Is.

Apart from him Nurul Hasan hit an undefeated 13-ball 24 while a 25-ball 21 came from Najmul Hossain Shanto to take Bangladesh to 145-6 after a revised target of 151 from 16 overs.

Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandiya scalped two wickets each for India.

Earlier, Virat Kohli and Lokesh Rahul struck a fifty each to power India to a commendable 184-6 against Bangladesh in their Super 12 match of the ICC T20 World Cup at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 63 off 43 while Rahul made a 32-ball 50.

Hasan Mahmud was the peak of the bowlers for Bangladesh with 3-47 while Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets.

Sent to bat, India made a cautious start as they posted only 37-1 inside the power play.

Taskin Ahmed who went wicketless but gave away only 15 runs in his quota of four overs had a great opportunity to remove Rohit Sharma in his second over.

However he failed as Hasan Mahmud dropped a dolly from backward square leg for 2.

However, he could redeem himself scalping the opener in the next over at backward point impelling him to give a catch to Yasir Ali for 2 to reduce the side for 11-1.

In the next stand Virat Kohli and Rahul added 77-run to conquer the early loss before the latter gave a catch at the short fine leg to Mustafizur Rahman for 50, by Shakib Al Hasan.

However Kohli carried on alone forming 38, 14 in the next two stands with Surya Kumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya respectively before the duo were dismissed by Shakib and Mahmud for 30 off 16 and 5.
