Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said that the issues of sharing seats with AL-led alliance partners ahead of Bangladesh’s next general election would be finalised today or tomorrow.
The alliance leader and prime minsiter Sheikh Hasina had given the task to the alliance coordinator Amir Hossain Amu, he said while addressing a briefing at the AL president Sheikh Hasina’s political office in the capital’s Dhanmondi.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina held a meeting with the alliance partners at her official residence Ganabhaban on Monday night.
Speaking about the Monday night’s meeting, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, informed the media that they had discussed about the political situation of the country, geo-political issues cantering the Indian oceans and the interest of world powerful countries over Bangladesh and in the region.
‘The seat sharing issues were discussed in the sidelines,’ he added.
Asked whether AL would not allow party official candidates where Jatiya Party would contest in a coalition like 2018 general election, he said that they would discuss with Jatiya Party in this regard.
AL presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak and organising secretary Mirza Azam, among others, were present during the briefing.
