Film actor Zayed Khan has served a legal notice for contempt of court to actress Nipun Akter for taking over as the general secretary (GS) of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association (BFAA) in violation of the Appellate Division’s order.
Talking to The Daily Star today, lawyer Md Abdul Qaium said he served the notice on behalf of Zayed Khan yesterday asking Nipun to refrain from any further violation of the apex court order, otherwise, a contempt of court petition will be moved against her before the High Court.
The chamber judge of the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division February 9 stayed the HC order that halted the authorities’ decision of cancelling the candidacy of Zayed Khan and declaring film actress Nipun as GS of the association.
The chamber judge also directed both the parties to maintain status quo in respect of holding the post till February 13.
On February 13, the full bench of the Appellate Division upheld the chamber judge’s order till the HC hearing on the writ petition filed by Zayed Khan regarding the issue.
The HC yesterday fixed February 22 for hearing the petition.
