Five more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 238 this year.
In the 24-hour span, 841 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 56,257 in 2025.
Among the fatalities – three men and two women – four were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and one in Mymensingh division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest cases, 125 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 106 in Chattogram division, 214 in Dhaka division, 173 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 128 under DSCC, 26 in Khulna division, 19 in Mymensingh division, 47 in Rangpur division, and three in Sylhet division.
DGHS data shows that men account for 61.1% of infections so far this year, while women represent 38.9%.
Currently, 2,665 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Dengue killed 575 people in 2024, with 1,01,214 cases recorded. The previous year saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 3,21,179 hospitalisations.
